Bully Documentary Review

Bullying, a controversy that has the nation asking what's being done to put an end to bullying? I've spent the last two days watching a documentary called "Bully". Where the lives of 5 kids- Alex Libby, Kelby Johnson, Tyler Long, Ja'Meya Jackson,Ty Smalley, and their families- star in film about bullying and the harm it can do. From threats to suicide, bully can do a lot of damage. Mentally, emotionally, and physically.
These kids go through a lot each day. They get bullied in class, in the hallways, cafeterias, locker rooms, and school buses and only little is done about it. In some situations students were actually getting bullied by teachers, which i found incredibly sad. Home is the only place these kids feel safe, like they can be themselves.
I've never actually seen bullying like this in my environment but yet there has been a few suicides over the school year. I guess the bullying where I am is a little less more public.
This film showed how bullying is just as hard for the victim as it is for there families. siblings made fun of just because they're related to the victims, parents constantly ignored and lied to, and the victims having to go through this every single day.
My eyes were opened to how much bullying effects the lives of many around you and sadly it still goes on.
Day by day these victims and their families fight to put an end to bullying. Hopefully one day all the lost wars will result in a glorious victory.

Success In School

Summer is Ending, so sadly it's time to get back to school. Reconnecting with friends you've missed over vacation,Showing off that first day look, and meeting new people. But let's talk about what we're really in school for. Success. I have 3 ways I plan to Succeed over the school year.

  Prepare,Study, Succeed

Preparation,Studying, and Dedication are mandatory when it comes to success.  Preparing yourself. Having  all the supplies and resources makes sure you have everything you need to work to your full potential. Studying is also key to success. You should study at least once a day for 30-45 minutes every  school week. Even when you are not expected to do so. Besides the fact that you be totally prepared for every  test, quiz, project, assignment, and homework thrown your way, you'll also be exercising you brain. So  remember Prepare,Study,Succeed.

Make Better Choices

This can actually apply to a lot of things in school, even if not related to academics. Academic Example, Let's say you see you grades are slipping . Instead of going directly to the teacher, you decide that since you have mostly A's and B's you just  decide to deal with it later. You finally decide to go to your teacher for ways to make up the credit, but it's too late. The teacher's grades have already been submitted. Now let's look at a different look at things. let's say there's going to be a fight in the bathroom during passing period. Instead of going to class like you supposed to you decide to get in on the action. A school administrator passes by and hears all the commotion. He/She walks in and you all get suspended. So the moral of these stories, Make better choices.

Failure equals Success

Most students are afraid to fail the first time they try something new. Here's something I've learned from personal experience if at first you don't succeed you are on the right track to reach higher than you ever could before. When you fail, of course it sucks, but there's an upside. when you fail you can learn from your mistakes and come up with a whole new perspective on things that you'd never come up with if you never fail in the first place. So maybe you'll fail at first, but with dedication in the long run you may succeed

Love Your Hair, Inside and Out

By Farrah Casseus

I love natural hair. No if, and's or buts about that. It's just so different, so unique. There's so much you can do with kinky hair. I've been going natural for about two years, but I've only been using natural products and learning more about how African hair care works for only about a year.
I learned that I have fine, thick hair and I'm still learning how to manage it properly. Like what the deal is with micro-braids and heavy weaves....BAD IDEA! (at least with fine hair). I've also been looking into some new natural hair products. One of my absolute favorite hair product lines, Shea Moisture, has made a big difference in my hair. I would definitely recommend it to almost any and everyone., but I also recommend find a product that works for your hair.
As much as I love natural hair, it's hard for to care for my hair as freely as I choose. Especially when your an unemployed teen. But by watching YouTube videos, such as MyNaturalSistas, I've found ways to take care of my hair from the inside. Here's a list of food that are good for providing growth and strength to your hair.

1.) Salmon
2.) Walnuts
3.) Oysters
4.) Sweet Potatoes
5.) Eggs
6.) Spinach
7.) Lentils
8.) Greek Yogurt
9.) Blueberries
10.)Poultry
